SUMMER CAMP
We know that summer is a special time for children. It is a chance for them to flourish in an environment designed just for them. We offer a place where they can explore, learn, be themselves, grow, and have fun with our unique and exciting blend of activities!
TRAILS campers range in age from 6-18 (Click here to read more about Our Kids)
Campers will be arranged into groups ("Herds") of six to eight campers by developmental age.
Each Herd of campers will have a trained clinician as the Herd Leader and a teen counselor as a mentor. This allows us the amazing capacity for social facilitation and "in the moment" teaching.
Our formal curriculum has been designed by neuropsychologists to utilize experiential learning in a naturalistic environment to foster social and emotional competence. On each day of the two week session we weave the social skill teaching almost invisibly into the fun activities and move the children along the Trail to Success from a "me to we."
We understand developmental struggles and learning challenges. Our camp structure is designed to promote more efficient learning and maximize success and generalization of skills.

All campers and staff meet for Morning Circle where fun team building games are played and the Theme of the Day is introduced.
The Herds rotate through four activity Pods each day. The Pod clinicians have designed the activities to be engaging and to develop the social skill Theme of the Day that fits within the overall two week curriculum.
Parents fill out extensive developmental questionnaires and clinical intake information on their child and provide the neuropsychologists with any assessments, school plans, or other relevant information regarding their child. They also identify key areas for individual goals for their child.
AnimalsYou don’t have to be a horse lover to attend this camp! We have a wide variety of animals you can work with such as lambs, pigs, goats, rabbits and chickens...(but the horses ARE pretty cool!!) |
Nature Based AdventuresTreasure hunts, nature hikes, gardening, ecology, cooking projects, animal tracking, outdoor survival skill trainings, and real life ranch chores! |
Team Building GamesNoodle mania, rubber chickens, human knot, water games, homemade ice cream, alligator crossing and more! |
Expressive Art ProjectsBanner making, painting, quilt making, beading, carpentry projects, clay, drama, musical instruments, food decoration! |
No other program involves the parents the way we do!
All parents come to camp the first day with their camper (and you can even ride the bus)! You see your camper off to a good start, experience first hand the power of an experiential curriculum, and learn practical strategies to become a better social and emotional coach for your child. This maximizes the generalization of our treatment model to the home setting. Your day at camp will develop your ability to facilitate a healthy, happy, and socially and emotionally competent child.
